On the night we remember as the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and wine and gave them new meaning: “This is my body… this is my blood… given and shed for you.” As Lutherans, we trust that Christ is truly present in this meal. We don’t fully explain the mystery; we receive it.
The bread is Christ’s body, given for you.
The wine is Christ’s blood, shed for you.
In Communion, we receive forgiveness, renewal, and strength. We are united with Christ and with one another. At this table, we are reminded that we belong to God, and that there is room for all.
Because it is Christ’s invitation, all are welcome to receive in our congregation. Some begin young; others wait. Both choices are faithful.
During Lent, we will offer a two-session Holy Communion Class for children, guardians, and also anyone who would like to explore the meaning of this sacrament.
Classes will be held Wednesday, March 11 and March 18 from 6:00–7:00 PM.
Participants will be invited to share Communion together on Maundy Thursday, April 2 at 6:30 PM.
