This Sunday, we are honored to welcome Marvin E. Wickware, Jr. as our guest preacher at the 9:00 and 10:30 AM services. Dr. Wickware is a theologian, author, and educator whose work thoughtfully explores the intersections of theology, race, politics, and the emotional realities of Christian life in a divided world.
Between services, Dr. Wickware will be available for conversation and discussion around his latest book, Loving through Enmity. Congregation members and guests are invited to join this meaningful opportunity to engage with the themes of Christian love, reconciliation, and antiracist work within the church.
During the later service hour, Dr. Wickware and Pastor Katie will participate in a special conversation centered on Loving through Enmity, exploring how Christian love can move beyond abstraction and into meaningful transformation. Their discussion will reflect on what faithful antiracist work can look like within the life of the church and how communities of faith are called to engage one another across division and difference.
Dr. Wickware serves as Associate Professor of Church and Society and Ethics at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, where he teaches at the intersection of theology, race, politics, and emotions. His writing and teaching often examine the experiences of anger, grief, hope, and healing within both church and public life.
We invite all to join us this Sunday for worship, conversation, and reflection as we welcome Dr. Wickware to our community.
