Next Sunday, we step into the wilderness with the people of Israel. They’ve just crossed the Red Sea, but the thrill of freedom quickly gives way to hunger, worry, and complaint. God meets their need with manna—bread from heaven that appears each morning, just enough for each day.

It’s a story of grace under pressure. God doesn’t scold the people for their fears or frustrations. Instead, God listens, provides, and teaches them to trust. The manna isn’t what they expected, and it doesn’t come all at once, but it is exactly what they need.

This text speaks to us as the church in a changing world. We know what it is to feel uncertain, to grumble when life looks different than we imagined, or to long for the “way things used to be.” And yet, God meets us here—not with quick fixes or easy answers, but with daily bread. With just enough grace for today.

Sometimes it feels easier to cling to what we’ve always done, even if it leaves us feeling stuck. Trapped by fear, barriers, or shame, we convince ourselves that at least the familiar is predictable. But God calls us out—not into a world that will satisfy every want, but into a community sustained by love, where we are held together and not left alone.

Our theme, Rooted in Grace, Moved by Love, reminds us that God’s provision roots us deeply, even when the landscape is shifting. And it calls us outward—moved by love to notice the hunger of our neighbors and to share what we have been given.

What if grace looks different than we anticipate? What if love calls us to open our hands to new patterns of care, new ways of being church, new manna we’ve never tasted before?

This week, as we prepare for worship, I invite you to reflect: Where have you experienced God’s “just enough” grace in your own wilderness moments? And how might we, together, learn to trust God’s provision—so that we can be a community rooted in grace and moved by love?

 Peace,
