We are thrilled to officially welcome Kathy Picard as the permanent Director of Children and Family Ministries at Bethany Lutheran Church! Kathy has been an integral part of our community since joining us in 2019 as a member of the church and in the new year on staff as Interim Director of Children and Family Ministries. Many of you have experienced her warmth, energy, and dedication during her time as Interim Director.
Kathy brings a rich background in education and a passion for nurturing children in their faith. Prior to starting her family, she was an ESL/Bilingual teacher in Wauconda and has always had a love for soccer both coaching and playing on two teams even today! Alongside her love for sports, Kathy enjoys music, coffee, and quality time with family and friends.
Since stepping into the interim role, Kathy has been an incredible asset to the Bethany team. She successfully coordinated beloved events like the Holy Week Pancake Breakfast and Bazaar and continues to bring faith education to Bethany’s children through music, stories, and engaging activities. She is also launching the Bethany Bucks program, encouraging Sunday School students to explore their faith and participate in fun activities outside of class.
“Kathy has fit right in with our staff and is such a gift to our Children and Family Ministries,” says Pastor Katie Mueller. “We are excited to have her officially on board to continue guiding our kids on their faith journeys.”
