Next week, we will explore the story of Jesus in the temple, overturning the tables of the money changers. It’s a dramatic story, but it’s also deeply revealing about the way God moves in the world and the way Christ shows us love, justice, and truth in unexpected places.

In the middle of winter, the world can feel heavy. The streets are quiet; the wind bites, and yet, beneath the chill, life continues. Families care for one another; neighbors check in, and even in the cold, hope quietly grows. That’s the same spirit Jesus shows in this passage. He sees injustice and fear, he sees the systems that exploit and divide, and he acts with clear love.

As a church, we know what it’s like to live in moments of uncertainty. The nation feels restless, communities feel fractured, and fear is present in so many corners of life. And yet, the story of Jesus reminds us that God’s way is revealed not in avoidance, but in courage and clarity. Love leads the way, even when it looks like a disruption. Even when it calls us to notice what others might ignore. Even when it asks us to stand for justice in a world that prefers comfort over truth.

This passage invites us to reflect: how do we follow Christ’s lead in our own lives? Where is God calling us to notice injustice, to act with love, to speak with clarity, and to step forward even when it feels uncomfortable? Step by step, moment by moment, Christ reveals God’s path. This path often unfolds in unexpected places, like the streets of our town, the walls of our homes, or the hearts of those we might not expect.

This week, take a moment to notice where God might be calling you to act with love, justice, or courage. It could be a small step—checking in on a neighbor, speaking up when someone is overlooked, or simply listening with care. I’d love to hear your reflections! Be present this week and try to notice God at work in unexpected ways, or a moment you feel called to act boldly.

Next Sunday, we’ll explore what it means to live fully in that revelation: to be guided by love, rooted in truth, and moving with courage into a world that desperately needs both. Even in the cold, God is revealing the way.

Peace,

Pastor Katie
