There are seasons in life when we feel certain of where we are going. We have a plan, and then, something changes. A door closes. A relationship shifts. We find ourselves in a place we never expected to be, wondering what happened to the path we thought we were on. 

The story of Joseph in Genesis 39 is a story about this. Joseph’s life has taken a painful turn. His brothers have sold him into slavery, and he has been carried away to Egypt. Joseph has lost his freedom, his home, and his place among the people he knows. 

And yet, the story tells us: “The LORD was with Joseph.” 

This phrase appears again and again throughout the chapter. I like to think that it serves as a reminder that while Joseph’s circumstances have changed, God’s faithfulness did not. 

Joseph's story reminds us that God calls us to remain faithful in the middle of uncertainty. Sometimes God calls us to practice integrity when no one is watching or to care for the people entrusted to us. 

Perhaps you are navigating a transition, a difficult relationship, a question about your future, or a season when you are not sure what comes next. Maybe you are wondering how your gifts can make a difference or whether the small things you do each day truly matter. 

Remember that faithfulness does not require a complete map. We can remain open to the possibility that God is calling us toward more than we currently understand.  

God’s blessings arrive to us through generations and across borders. The life of the church is built on this faith. Church is possible through the generosity of many people. Some offer time. Some offer music, teaching, hospitality, or care. Some make space for children to grow in faith. Some bring a meal, welcome a newcomer, visit someone who is lonely, or speak up when a neighbor needs support. 

Every gift matters, and every person has something to offer. We can bring our different experiences, identities, gifts, and understandings into a community that seeks to welcome all people and participate in God’s work in the world. 

This Sunday, our Annual Apple Bash will be a special opportunity to gather as a community for worship, celebration, and fellowship. Join us for outdoor worship at 9:30 AM followed by a potluck and time for fellowship. There will also be activities for the kids, making this a wonderful opportunity to bring the whole family and invite neighbors. 

Whether you have been part of our congregation for years, or are visiting for the first time, you are invited. Bring a friend and come as you are.  

Church is not only something we do on Sunday morning. It is a community we build together through presence, welcome, worship, and care. We are called for more, so let us answer the call.
