Hey everyone!
We’re coming up to the day of Pentecost. The disciples are gathered and then, without warning, the Spirit descends and fills every soul with a sense of purpose and a fire that burns within. That same Spirit is moving through us right now, ready to shake things up—if we let it.
The Spirit isn’t some abstract idea we talk about on Sundays. The Spirit is alive. And she calls us to be more than we ever thought possible. That is what the Spirit does—it moves us toward something better, something holy.
Paul tells us that the Spirit empowers us to claim our true identity as God’s children. Not because we earned it, but because we are heirs to a promise of love and freedom that we are fully invited into. The Spirit calls us to step into who God made us to be. Are you ready to claim it?
Paul goes on to show us the fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are the signs of God’s presence among us. These fruits don’t show up perfectly when we’re sitting in our comfortable spaces. They grow when we listen closely to God’s call and when we move in the direction of the Spirit.
As we move through this season, we’re not just talking about individual transformation. We’re talking about community. The fruit of the Spirit binds us together in ways that nothing else can. In a world that is divided—by background, by politics, by hurt, by history—the Spirit calls us to break down those walls. It calls us to listen to each other and to build a church that’s a living, breathing body of people who are diverse and alive with the power of God.
I know it can feel like the weight of the world is pressing in on us sometimes. But I promise you this: the Spirit equips us with everything we need to move forward.
So, come ready. Come ready to open yourself up to what the Spirit has for you—and for all of us, together. God is calling us to something deeper. The time is now. We’re in this together.
I can’t wait to see you there.
Peace,
Pastor Katie
