A mission to give shelter to the homeless. Our doors are open every Sunday night 7:00 pm to 7:00 am from October 1 to April 30. Members have an opportunity to help by providing food, doing laundry and helping with site shift work. |
The Head Start Program and Bethany have been partners since 1981. Head Start provides early childhood education for lower income community members. In the recent building program, Bethany set aside a dedicated permanent site for this program. |
Good Samaritan Ministry
Bethany, together with other local churches, provides emergency financial funding to assist people in need in our community. The program operates Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings out of our church building. |
Once a month a group of members play Bingo with the residents of Sheltered Village, Woodstock, a home for mentally and physically challenged adults. The congregation is also invited to support the annual Christmas “Giving Tree” that provides gifts for about 90 residents. |
Senior Ministry
Begun in 1993, the Bethany Senior Ministry includes members of Bethany who are 60 years of age or older. Our mission is to enable seniors to provide support, service and growth experiences for each other and for the congregation. Our activities include: The Sr. Breakfast Club, Annual Ice Cream Social, and various trips and outings. |
Men’s Group
Fellowship and servant events for our men of Bethany. |

As a community of women
created in the image of God,
called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and
empowered by the Holy Spirit,
we commit ourselves to
grow in faith,
affirm our gifts,
support one another in our callings,
engage in ministry and action, and
promote healing and wholeness
in the church,
the society, and
the world. |
We support Lutheran World Relief Projects, Missionary Support, and World Hunger.
Also we are active with Mission Save a Smile (photos). www.missionsaveasmile.org Several Bethany members recently provided 100+ hours of clinical care to the Kuna on the San Blas Island of Achutupu and served the Emvera Drua of Panama. |
Fruits of Faith Garden
We grow and provide fresh produce for the local Crystal Lake Food Pantry. In its first year, we produced over 800 lbs of produce. A group of volunteers help plant, weed, water, harvest and deliver the produce 3 times a week. |
Food Pantry
Bethany is one of 20+ churches that volunteers to work at the Food Pantry. Volunteers stock and sort food and personal items on a monthly basis. Bethany also participates in the spring “Stamp Out Hunger” and fall “Community Harvest” focuses to benefit the Pantry. In 2010, the Food Pantry handed out 54,500 bags of food. |

A program of our congregation that equips lay persons to provide Christian one-to one- care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances. There are times when each of us needs the care of a Christian friend, a Stephen Minister. Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry. For more information, contact the church office. |
